History MA/PhD at Bilkent University, Turkey

Bilkent University History Department Graduate Study applications on Ottoman History, European History and American History for 2013-1014 Spring Term will be accepted until 8 January 2014. Oral interviews will take place on 9-10 January 2014.

There are three tracks within the Programs for Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy in History: Ottoman History, European History and American History.

Bilkent University is a non-profit research university in Ankara, Turkey. The language of instruction is English.

The University has 12,000 students and its teaching staff numbers around 1000. Bilkent attracts students of the highest caliber nationally and from abroad. Every year a large proportion of the top 100 scorers in the Turkish National University Entrance Examination choose to study at Bilkent. International students come from countries such as Australia, Bulgaria, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Japan, Jordan, Tunisia, UK, USA, Russian Federation and Ukraine.

Scholarship


All students accepted into both MA and PhD programs will normally receive a scholarship covering full tuition, free dormitory accommodation if from outside Ankara, and a monthly stipend that increases over the course of the program.

Eligibility


An undergraduate degree in history is NOT a prerequisite for entering the M.A. program. Graduates of departments of social sciences, humanities, management, engineering, and science may apply. All students entering the graduate program in history must take one year of preparatory courses before they begin Master’s level course work.

To enter the Ph.D. program candidates are required to have completed an M.A. degree in History or a related field. They must also pass the entrance exam for the area in which they wish to specialize.

To apply, please visit the registration website to begin a new application. You must provide:

- ALES (Akademik Personel ve Lisansüstü Eğitimi Giriş Sınavı – Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam) or GRE scores. (GMAT score is required for graduate programs in Business Administration.)

- Fluency in written and oral English. Test scores are required for non-native English speakers (please see the Graduate School web sites for the list of accepted tests).

- Official transcripts

- Recommendations from instructors or others qualified to evaluate academic ability.

The deadline for applying is 8 January 2014. No application fee is charged for applications to graduate programs.
